SOUP LUNCH……..the beginning

You may wonder how or why Soup Lunches began. Well……………

In September 2008 we ran a coffee morning for the MacMillan Nurses (posh coffee and decadent cakes if you recall.) Folks came, drank posh coffee (or tea) and ate decadent cakes, donated generously to the charity and sat and chatted……..and sat and chatted…….and sat and chatted. The need for a regular daytime social event where people could sit and chat in a civilised, relaxed atmosphere was blindingly obvious. So Soup Lunches were born. From 12 noon (and often soup sippers turn up before then) till 2pm (and frequently well after that) people can just turn up, alone or in groups and be guaranteed a warm welcome, a good meal, excellent company and no pressure to move on.  All ages and nationalities, all walks of life, all religions or none, are welcomed. They sit and chat, or sit and listen, or sometimes they just sit. There is a wonderful buzz, a happy relaxed atmosphere. This is a social event for everyone. We look forward to your company.
